SfS Reporting Options

There are four options for submitting the HUD Standards for Success (SfS) Report to HUD each year.

Direct Data Entry into HUD’s inForm Tool

HUD has provided a free tool called inForm which allows direct data entry on the annual Standards for Success (SfS) Report. Data can be entered and updated at any time. Then the report can be submitted once a year from this tool.

Pros:

  • This tool is free

  • Users only see the data elements required to be entered to their program (MFSC or ROSS) so they know which fields must be entered

  • Users do not have to remember the data element codes, there are drop downs in the system to select the correct answer, which provides the correct corresponding code

Cons:

  • Users must work online while logged in

  • Data elements must have a corresponding value, but Information Not Collected and Not Applicable are acceptable answers

Support for inForm is provided directly via Grant Solutions. For more information about inForm, contact:

Excel File Upload

HUD has provided an Excel file that can be filled out and uploaded once a year.

Pros:

  • This tool is free

  • Users can work offline and update their data anytime, then only upload a complete file once a year

Cons:

  • Users see all data elements and they must keep track of which data elements are required for their program. The others can be left blank, but the user will get an error upon upload if a data element that is required for their program is not filled out

  • Users must remember the data codes for each data element and enter them correctly onto the spreadsheet for the file to be accepted on the excel upload

  • The software does the work of including the data element codes (e.g., age, length of stay in subsidized housing) which change every year

  • The software integrates the SfS report with HUD's database, so the report can be sent securely from AASC Online to HUD in a few clicks
